I think I mentioned before how my friends and I share a common interest (read: obsession, ) in food. So, last week we headed to 9 South Chargrill, a locally owned eatery. The restaurant itself is not so big though it’s cozy. The menu offers many choices from steaks to pasta, sandwiches to seafood. It can be a bit overwhelming as they all sound delicious but one thing for sure it won’t break the bank. As college kids, that last point is important for us.

We started with the chicken wings with house hot sauce. They are our favorite. The wings were marinated before cooking so they were really tasty and crispy (we’re thinking they used honey that usually gives that caramelized crispness, but we might be wrong). I had the beef medallions which was prepared beautifully. I’m seriously eating all the steaks I can before flying home… Steaks here are cheap and so tender compared to the ones back home. So, if you happened to past town, maybe while crossing the I-80, stop here for a meal. Don’t forget to order the wings .

*Off topic: I’ve been wearing these Target sandals and ASOS bag a lot so pardon me for they showed up in the last 3 outfit posts .

It’s OK to be nostalgic

How’s everyone’s Easter weekend? I’m currently munching cadbury eggs now. Easter candy makes me happy. Anyway, I hope it’s not too late to talk about Easter weekend now… on a Thursday after. The highlight was the Easter dinner with my (let’s make it simple) host family. Pam and I have spent the last 6 years coming to their house for Thanksgiving and Easter dinners. For both of us this Easter was our last here.

I felt a twang of sadness coming in, knowing that would be the last time we’re having holiday dinner together. I love the whole sitting around the table, passing around dishes, and having a meal as a family. That was one thing that I really miss when I first moved here. My family always do it for dinner but as I live here by myself, my usual at-home dinner companion is video streaming on Hulu or Netflix. In short , I am so grateful for getting to know my host family and for their hospitality all these years.

Lately, I’ve been feeling nostalgic about this place. I’m so grateful for learning so much from my time in the U.S. However, I’ve made my decision and that is to fly back after my graduation in June. Next chapter in life, bring it on!

Disney: Animal Kingdom

For my third and final day at Disney World, we decided to go to both Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We thought we would have time to explore more but oh we were so wrong. Unlike the times when we went to Epcot and Magic Kingdom, that day the parks were packed… jammed with Spring Break-ers. We had lots of fun nonetheless.

Did I mention how much I love the shows at Disney parks? So.. so much! The Lion King show is full of colorful costumes, singing, dancing, and acrobats a la cirque du soleil. I also like the 3D show “It’s hard to be a Bug” with an unexpected ending.

We also did Kali River Rapids which was not that bad. It was a mild ride but I got soaked nonetheless. Then it was time for the parade. How cute is Minnie’s jeep? Very, I say.

During our breakfast meet-up, Emma mentioned the safari to be one of her favorite rides. And it was cool. We rode the big safari jeep and found ourselves in the middle of all these animals who just enjoying themselves in the sun. The lion and lioness took a nap. The hippo too was sleeping in his pond .
