It was a fun Saturday. We went to a grand collective garage sale not so creatively called “Mother of All Garage Sale”. It’s basically a flea market. The sale was scheduled for one-day only, 8am-4pm. I was actually planned to go as early as possible, confidently setting my alarm clock to ring at 7am the previous night. However, the morning chill prevented me from sticking to the schedule, rather, I pulled my blanket even higher, hoping to combat the weather. Finally at 9:30ish am I woke up and started to get ready. But it’s not until about 11 am that we reached the event center, where it was held.It was a really really crowded and busy event. Oh my! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a crowd in Lincoln. Well, obviously apart from football game days. Anyway, there are many antiques and knick-knacks that I couldn’t help but ooh-ing at. These are the stuff I got for a total of $6:

My shopping bag was filled with a cute framed drawing which I paid $1.50 for, a $2/set of 3 cute kittens, a $0.50 house figurine, a $2 1920’s Valentine postcard (which I had to buy partly because of its cute picture and also because the lady was so nice she gave us the Thesaurus for free, so I felt bad and bought something from her booth).I didn’t buy any clothes or at least accessories/jewelries for myself. All I was going for is random decoration that I’d thought my mom would love. I guess her constant “look around if there’s anything nice for me, kak” was quite deeply embedded in my head. So, here all for you Mom… xoxo!
We decided to leave the event at around 2pm. We were starved. Long story cut short, we ended up in Olive Garden after driving into a closed Peking Palace. The food was yum as usual and our waitress was such a darling. We decided to share an entree so we can get an appetizer sampler and maybe dessert at the end, she then came with two soups instead of one (as we thought it’ll be since we only ordered one main dish) and when the entree came it was already divided into two perfectly portioned bowls.
After a relaxing and filling lunch we went to Barnes and Noble. I picked up Liza Campbell’s A Charmed Life that was on the “Recommended” shelf in Biography/Memoir section. Aj picked up a book about scrabble. We sat down at the cafe and read. We didn’t leave Barnes and Noble until it was about to close. We didn’t buy any books. Aj finished the whole book in that 6 hours period we were there. I stopped at chapter 5, promised myself to find a cheaper copy of it online or at second hand bookstore, and turned to flipping magazines’ pages and randomly walked around the bookstore.
I got back home around 11pm and was content.
