i have been really friendly to my little kitchen this past two weeks. i made rendang and sambal eggplant last week which ensured that i have a good meal to mix and match for the week. This week though is rather gloomy with dark clouds, rain, and a little sunshine. Not so fun fall weather. The kind of weather that made one just want to stay inside, drink a big mug of hot cocoa or coffee or tea, and snuggleee!!! hehehe.
On Wednesday morning after an overnight shift at work, i dreamed of a bowl of chicken porridge. Back in Jakarta, one can easily found a food cart by the side of the road or some guys pushing it around, selling chicken porridge in the morning. Typically, the dish consist of a thick porridge, poured on chicken stock enriched with spices, shredded chicken, fried nuts, char kwey (some chinese type of bread), green onions, fried onions, soy sauce, kerupuk, and chili sauce. There will be extras too like gizzards satay or eggs. Unfortunately i couldn’t find any char kwey that morning, despite my trips to two different asian store. But my chicken porridge that day taste so good that it makes the gloomy day feels comforting. hmm!
